The Sixth Belgrade Fashion Week was held after almost a year from 25th October to 30th October. Bearing in mind the circumstances our country experienced recently and that the Fashion Week in spring was not held at all, the most of the collections are dedicated to the autumn/winter season.
The first commercial part of the program of this Belgrade Fashion Week at which reputed Yugoslav fashion companies were presented, started with the AMC-Afrodite Mode Collection fashion show, presenting the quality womenswear.by Vesna Matijevic, the reputed fashion designer with AMC opened to view her designs for autumn/winter 1999/2000. By its thematic determinants the collection was inspired by the life of nomads and monks and their attire, in the manner of minimalism with the grey colour prevailing. The collection by Zoran Stanic followed immediately afterwards, inspired by the Byzantine and the aesthatics of costumes of High Renaissance observing the current fashion criteria. Sonja Krstics womeswear collection for the Cinderella Fashion House were designed in trendy green and purple hues bearing in mind the world trends. This collection represents a significant achievement by this author. The well known menswear TABOO designs were done by Vera Kotarac. The collection under the name Belgrade is dedicated to this very season for the men of an acquired taste, both casual and very ellegant. St. George Fashion House presented its knitwear designs on 26 October with even six designers. Mirjana Milovanovic opened a series of fashion shows with her collection for children. Then followed Sofija Kuzmanovics and Ivana Kostics collection for women. Bojan Milisavljevic showed his collection Protection containing clothing items for men, and Doda Komad presented the collection for women in black grey and white hues with particular detail in khaki. The last fashion designers of this house and the leader at it Vladimir Stojanovic presented his designs for men. All the collection are to be worn in the season yet to come. STEM, well known Pronto Moda fashion house closed this second day of BELGRADE FASHION WEEK by way of their fashion show by Suzana Peric, including a number of elegant clothing items for the New Years Eve
All the fashion shows were accompanied by a display of fashionable accessories in the hotel foyer by SOLO and LAKI LINE shoes, Dragana Rodics bags and Natasa Filipovics caps, and EVITA PERONI, a reputed manufacturer of headdress which apart from the display itself, also had a live presentation for the spring/summer 2000. The VI Fashion Week was even announced by means of an exhibitions of drawings and accessories opened on 20 October in "Belgrade Window" gallery of Belgrade Cultural Centre. It was open till 30 October.
The second part of the VI ComTrade Fashion Week were dedicated to the latest creations of young designers under the project named C2 - Group of New Designers.
The C2 project in matter was realized by MS CLICK and CENTROTEXTIL It was a project which had the aim to let the young designers to express their creativity and realize their collections.CENTROTEXTIL as one of the greatest textile companies in Yugoslavia provide them with the fabrics and sewing of the designs and CLICK enables the presentation of the collections including PR promotions. There is a specialised store within the project where all their designs are on sale. The first three out of seventeen young designers all of whom are under the aegis of C2 project presented their designs on october 26th. These were Zvonko Markovics RES collection, Glorija Novicevic, by her collection GN, and Dijana Keseljs Who Wears Whom collection.
On October 28 even fourteen new young designers under the aegis of C2 project, were brought to prominence The fashion shows were held in SKC and the fashion designers presented were Slobodan Bata Spasojevic /NEW RULES collection/ Natalija Obrenic/New Charme collection/ Danijela Mihajlovic/Escape collection/ Bojana Dimitrijevic /Sport and Elegance collection/, Valentina Obradovic /The ode to a wintry cherry/Danijela Glisic/ The soft and the cosy/, Darko Kostic /Save the Boombs/ on the first show and Jelena Nikolic, Tanja Milivojevic /the kolection Naïve/Natasa Krstic /Fashion and nature/ Lana Pavlovic / the collection The protection against cannibalism/ Nevenka Milosavljevic /The Firy heat of Andalucia/ , Jelena Dzukic Malesevic and Mirko Tmusic and at the very end Sekula Sinadinovski /Lilit collection/.
As a part of the accompanying programme the seniour students at The Faculty of Applied Art and Design in Belgrade presented their drawings and sketches in the Student Cultural Centre foyer and these were Tatjana Stankovic, Maja Mirkovic, Aleksandra Stevanovic, Vasilije Kovacev and Sinisa Ilic. The fashion shows of young designers were finished in ANDERGRAUND CLUB under the name FASHION WEEK CAFÉ PARTY.
On October 29th in Barutana on Kalemegdan Fortress the guests from Slovenia - ROTODIN group i.e. designers Sanja Grcic and Iztok Hrga had their fashion show. They presented the collection Last Century containing costumes for theatre. Natasa Saric from Passage showed 35 costumes of inovative tailorings were inspired by cartography and maritime. The photographs of their designes done by Nebojsa Babic, well known fashion photographer, were an accompanying part of a fashion show.
On 30 October in Hyatt Regency Hotel Verica Rakocevic, as a reputed couture fashion designer (after a grand success at the latest ALTA MODA in Rome ), had the utmost honour to close the Comtrade Fashion Week by way of her exquisite womenswear pret a porte collection for the spring/summer 2000 season including for the first time menswear.
