The Spring Comtrade Fashion Week, held from 21st till 29th April in Belgrade, has been the most successful one accordings to the participants` number and public interest. At 18 fashion shows, held in 7 different locations round Belgrade, were presented all the most prominent Yugoslav fashion designers and manufacturers as well as 40 young designers and guests from Croatia and Mexico. The exhibitions of accessories and the fashion design students` drawings were imagined as a supporting programme of the Fashion Week.

On 10th April, the exhibition of sketches and drawings, done by the students of the Faculty of Applied Arts and Design, held in Beoshopwindow - Belgrade Cultural Center, announced Spring ComTrade Fashion Week.

The fashion show of "GAMA", a fashion house from Banja Luka, held in Racquet club of the "Intercontinental" hotel at 17th, on 21st April, opened oficially this year`s Comtrade Fashion Week. Danilo Žižic, an exclusive designer from "GAMA", designed youthful and trendy collection, named "G2", for spring / summer 2000. ARENA presented its line of bathing suits before the show.

The program in the "Hyatt" hotel started the Fashion House "AMC - Afrodite Mode Collection". It presented two women`s collection done by its distinguished designers - Vesna Matijevic and Zoran Stanic. The collection of Zoran Stanic for spring / summer 2000 is inspired by romanticism and puts an accent on femininity. Serbian national costume was the inspiration of highly stylized collection for autumn / winter of Vesna Matijevic.

Under the name NEW TENDENCIES, six young designers had the opportunity to present their fresh ideas in Crystal Hall of the "Hyatt" hotel the very night. Klaudija Botic presented the items of three students collections (VIP, Housewife de Lug and Beloved), Valentina Obradovic her collection "Antimodern girl on classes of life", Mirko Tmušic "Individual World", Glorija Novicevic her knitwear collecion, Danijela Glišic "Blue Coordinates" and Darko Kostic "Sex Serbia 2000".

The exhibition of accessories was also opened in the foyer of Crystal hall in "Hyatt" hotel. Three companies - SOLO, LAKI LINE, LABRADOR - presented their latest shoe designs. Nebojša Rakonjac presented his leather jewellery, Nataša Filipovic - hats and caps, Evica Milanov Penezic - gloves, Marija Tasovac - painted textile, the Fashion House MONA - bags and "JEKA" - female patterned stockings. In between two shows, there was PHILLIP ZEPTER COLLECTION (Monte Carlo) jewellery presentation.

Irena Grahovac opened with the women`s collection of leather clothing for autumn / winter 2000. the second day. Her collection, done for the Fashion House "GRAHAM WOLF" was inspired by the 70`s fashion. TABOO, a fashion house from Niš, had its presentation of the men`s collection for spring / summer 2000. designed by Vera Kotarac.

The Fashion Studio "PEPELJUGA" and its designer Sonja Krstic presented the collection for spring / summer 2000. dedicated to young, trendy people who prefer casual and informal clothing.

The Italian fashion house "TERRANOVA" presented the men's and women's collection PRONTO fashion for spring / summer 2000. Dragica Vuckovic, designer of the prominent fashion house "KLUZ", followed with her collection for autumn / winter 2000. At the end STYLOS company had a presentation of SAMSONITE programme.

The third day started with the presentation of the fashion centre DISTANTE, held in a restaurant on Kalemegdan fortress. Two world's well-known brands - NIKE and GAS BLUE JEANS - presented their street wear colletion and trendy brand line in the "Hyatt" hotel the very night.

These fashion shows encircled the presentations of commercial collections manufactured by the biggest and most distinguished fashion companies.

The Museum of Modern Arts turned out to be very interesting and refreshing location for fashion shows. Jelena Nikolic, a postgraduate of St. Martin's School in London, Bojan Dragojlovic, a fashion designer, and two young guest -designers from Croatia had their presentations there, too.

Jelena Nikolic's collection is dedicated to an urban woman and explores her dual nature.

Designer Bojan Dragojlovic presented BLUD - straight M collection for spring / summer 2000. inspired by the tradition of Japanese paintings.

For the first time there was a presentation of two young fashion designers from Croatia - Daliborka Puž and Dražena Semren, who have obtained Renato Balestra scholarship. Their designs are dedicated to a woman without prejudice and inspired by both the elements of national tradition and Japanese culture.

The following day was dedicated to young designers, who had the opportunity of presenting their ideas in the Students` Cultural Centre in Belgrade. At the first fashion show, 12 finalists of the NADA NOVA`s competition presented their work, adn the "C2" group`s designers came afterwards: Nataša Jakovljevic, Milena Gazibaric, Sladana Neškovic, Katarina Nestorovic, Marija Ðapic, Ivana Ciric, Dragana Šebez, Aleksandra Stefanovic, Jasmina Dugic, Nataša Krstic, Nevenka Milosavljevic, Branka Bondžic Ðuricic, Ana Balan Jankovic, Lana Pavlovic, Andrijana Milanovic, Ana Milanovic, Tamara Marjanovic and Aleksandra Novovic.

Young designers Boris Nikolic and Marija Jelesijevic presented theri collections also that night. The collection of Boris Nikolic was named EXORCISM. The collection of Marija Jelesijevic, named SLUT KISS GIRL, is dedicated, as the designer herself said, to egomaniacs.

The sixth day of ComTrade Fashion Week started with the fashion shows of two fashion houses from Cacak, held in the Students' Cultural Centre. TIFFANY PRODUCTION, a jeans manufacturer, presented the collection of Slobodanka Nikolic for children and grown-ups. LAKI LINE's collection,named NEW HIPPY, was designed by GIAN PIETRO PAPA, a famous Italian shoe designer. The very night designer Jelena Džukic-Maleševic had the first individual fashion show of her collection named PERSONAL MYTHOLOGY in one of the oldest houses in Belgrade - Count Ljubica's House.

On 27th April, two guest designers from Mexico - Mariana Luna and Macario Jimenez - had the presentation of their collections and their own brands. Mariana Luna's women's collection is designed for special occasions, such as coctails and engagment parties, while Macario Jimenez's was inspired by the woods. It was the first public appearence of the designers in Europe, who studied fashion design in Italy.

After a day rest, Spring Fashion Week was ended on 29th April by the fashion show of Dragana Ognjenovic, held in front of the "Intercontinental" hotel.

At VII Comtrade Fashion Week it was also organized a humanitarian sale in cooperation with UNICEF with the aim of collecting fonds for purchasing medicines for children.

The next Comtrade Fashion Week will be held in October 2000.
