THE MIRROR OF CREATIVE DIVERSITY

With clear intentions to present new ideas, energy and creativity of our fashion scene, the traditional Fashion week was held in Belgrade from 22nd to 28th April 2002, this time under the official title BELGRADE DELTA LIFE FASHION WEEK.

The very fact that the general sponsor of the most important fashion manifestation in our country is the respectable company DELTA OSIGURANJE (Delta insurance) from now on, does not mean only that the Fashion Week is in “safe hands”, but also that it has gained a status of commercial, fashion and art festival, worthy of joining your image to, with its long-lasting existence, work and quality.

Acknowledgement that it is truly so, Fashion Week got on the second, equally important level. It is our pleasure to inform you that, from this season, the official patron of the BELGRADE DELTA LIFE FASHION WEEK, is the Belgrade City Assembly. “The Belgrade City Assembly accepted to be a patron of the Fashion Week with a pleasure, considering it to be the manifestation that by its profile and quality deserves this kind of an institutional support”, stated Radmila Hrustanovi?, the Mayor. Although it is primarily a fashion manifestation, the Fashion Week, intended to be an event for presenting achievements and creativity on the fashion scene, is also the unique manifestation in the country that has done a lot for the cultural milleu of our capitaly in whole.

Secondly, bearing in mind cooperation with foreign cultural centers in Belgrade, foreign media, foreign fashion designers appearance on the Fashion Week and finally the fact that shows are being attended more and more by foreign diplomats, Belgrade is in a very attractive way being promoted in the world. In accordance with our goal to present ourselves to the world as a modern, European city, open for cooperation, a city that is worth visiting and investing in, the Fashion Week is a kind of globally understandable, fashion message that Belgrade is all that! Having all this in mind, the Belgrade City Assembly supports this manifestation, which after all, have all the European cities today, hoping that our patronage will make easier all the organizational difficulties that were immense in the past.”

Fashion Studio “Click”, the organizer of the BELGRADE DELTA LIFE FASHION WEEK, made an effort to carry out its part of the job the best way possible. With a various and abounding program and 18 fashion shows, it represented prominent national fashion houses, as well as the author collections of renowned designers, foreign guests and, naturally, young designers’ reflections and ideas. Some of them were becoming mature precisely with the Fashion Week and they are making their way through our fashion scene maybe the hardest way possible – with their own name as a trademark. The following program included interesting exhibitions of accessories and fashion photography. One part of this program has been carried out in cooperation with the French Cultural Centre, which gave a special mark to the whole manifestation.

The BELGRADE DELTA LIFE FASHION WEEK was closed with a humanitarian show, which represented a special guest from Italy – COSTUME NATIONAL! - to domestic audience and fashion followers this fashion house, renowned for its new concept of luxury, introduced itself with the female and the male autumn/winter 2002 - 2003 collections, signed by its “first man”, designer Ennio Capasa. The fashion show of this famous Italian trademark signified at the same time the finale of a major humanitarian action that lasted during the whole Fashion Week. The whole income obtained from the tickets sold for this show, is intended to help the University Children’s’ Clinic. Brand “Campari” also gave its contribution to this action – through the auction of the most famous Yugoslav designers’ garment.
