„New Tendencies always remind me at the most quality part of the Belgrade Fashion Week or, to be more precise, at the most persistent part of it. The organizers really put the effort to make this regular tradition of the Fashion Week and that is great. The comparison to Slovenian students comes natural this evening and that has nothing to do with political situation in our country. It seems that it’s not only Slovenia in Europe but their students too. The Architecture of Memories, Contrasts, Poetry in Stone ... those are pretty serious collections. In almost all of them, and there were ten, one can see the complete story. There were not student illnesses which will disappear some day. Even now one can see the ripeness in thinking. There were some flows, of course, but the overall impression was more than good. There were some great pieces of cloths. I was thrilled by black tunics, the collection Architecture of Memories was really great to me. As for New Tendencies of our students and graduated high school students, there were more insecurities. They didn’t want to risk very much, they preferred to play safe. Let’s not forget that Tamara Radivojević, Tijana Pavlov, Valentina Obradović, grew up from New Tendencies. New Tendencies brought to light young designers we applauded to at the collective and than at independent fashion shows. I didn’t see creative innovations at this New Tendencies. I wish I was wrong. But Slovenians have pleasantly surprised me.
World wide known brand Diesel is, according some, a brand for young people but I disagree. Diesel is the brand for all those who like to be dressed casual. It is interesting that everything is allowed in fashion in these last few seasons. Absolutely everything. One can wear pants of all possible cuts. The rule is that there are no rules and that everything is allowed. One should be wise enough to chose something that fits the best to one’s spirit and body. Thus mistake will be avoided. That’s why I suggest not to follow trends but to stand in front of the mirror and see what looks good on us having in mind our personal style. That’s the essence of the fashion nowadays. To be true to self. That was demonstrated by students from Ljubljana. I vote for personality, trend has disappeared from the fashion long time ago. It’s good that Fashion Week grows further. We saw a lot of men’s fashion this time. Men’s fashion has always be in the red. I am always impatient to see collections of Aleksandar Protić, Slobodan Mihajlović and other independent designers at the Fashion Week. Fashion Week grows in size and quality and that’s very encouraging.“
