Darko Kostić's fashion show closed the 30th Amstel Fashion Week

The designer's new collection is inspired by flowers, bushes and gardens, garden patios, paysage architecture and styles, all kinds of different plants, seedlings of different sizes and garden-like atmospheres. The collection was influenced by romantic boho elements, with a certain candy look, courageously flirting with kitsch seductive elements.

The collection is evoking the sense of sweetness, the scent of soft powder and soap, and the design of soapboxes and advertisements from the 20s and the 30s of the 20th cenrury. The models are made of silk, silk voile and silk brocade, with a flawless lack of colour. Knits and loops of various techniques introduce the absence of seams and shapes which remain so delicate. The entire collection is hand made – every single flower, ornament or bouquet is designed and created by virtuosos of Darko Kostić's proud design studio. Some of the designs are unique and inimitable. The collection includes twenty-seven silhouettes, fourteen pieces of jewelry and seven handmade pieces of head jewelry.

The collection was supported by the popular brand Ford Cars – Darko Kostić designed the first tarpaulin for its model Fiesta. The „Dress Up Fiesta“ Campaign is popular on Facebook, inviting people to create their own tarpaulins for Ford Fiesta thus becoming the official face of Fiesta. The participants are offered the chance to win many valuable prizes.

COSTUME NATIONAL IN BELGRADE

A very special moment of the 30th Amstel Fashion Week was the fashion show of the eminent Italian brand Costume National.
It has been nine years since Costume National introduced its collection on the Belgrade Fashion Week. Last night, after a long time, we enjoyed new and sophisticated models of Costume National’s latest collection designed by Ennio Capasa.
This season, Ennio Capasa is pairing the following colours with black: geranium, cedar, white burned, purple ton sur ton.  His starting point to redefine today’s modernism was the graphics of the 60’s. He wanted sportswear to be sophisticated so he contaminated everything with couture-inspired fabrics and finishes.

ALEKSANDAR JOKSIMOVIĆ RECEIVED THE PRESTIGIOUS AWARD

On the behalf of the designer, the award was received by Jelena Mladenović who has been working with Aleksandar as his model. Nenad Radujević, the Manager of the Belgrade Fashion Week, read Mr. Joksimović's letter of appreciation:
“Ladies and gentlemen, I regret for not attending this event with you, true fashion lovers, but I found a way to thank the organizers of the Belgrade Fashion Week for this prestigious award. What makes this award much more important is the fact that it is given by an event which is enabling young generations to enter the professional world of fashion. I am giving my best to follow the work of new creative designers and I can say that there is great progress, especially introduced on the Belgrade Fashion Week, also gathering many excellent professional collaborators as the true key to success. I am also attracted to the new generation of photographers introduced by FAAR Magazine, representing a great contribution to the promotion of fashion design in Serbia. When I made my first steps in fashion, as a pioneer, all of these were missing on the Belgrade Fashion Week. Congratulation on reaching your jubilee and I wish you many more successful years to come.”

JASMINA SANADER - "CYBER COFFEE" JEWELRY COLLECTION

The exhibition was introduced by the actress Svetlana Bojković:
- I remember the beginnings of Jasmina Sanader’s designer’s carrier when I introduced her first handbags exhibition in Novi Sad. I am still the owner of two of her handbags which resist the changes of fashion trends. They remain original no matter the new fashion tendencies. Jasmina’s imagination, talent, and class created a beautiful jewelry collection “Cyber Coffee”, made of modern nickel elements. This collection is beyond all fashion trends and I hope that many ladies would cherish these accessories in their private collections for a long time.
The visitors were inspired by unusually designed necklaces and bracelets. The gallery gathered a great number of invitees, including great admirers of Jasmina’s work: fashion designers Verica RakoÄević and Irena Grahovac, the stylist Ašok Murti, the model AnÄ‘elija Vujović, actresses Lena Bogdanović and Ana Sakić and many other eminent public figures.
The realization of Jasmina Sanader’s exhibition was supported by the architect Nemanja Petrović. Right after the welcome speech, guests were entertained by the musician Petar Alargić.

GRAZIA

Magazine GRAZIA awarded the designer Tijana Pavlov for the best stylized fashion show within Amstel Fashion Week. This choice is maybe unusual, regarding the fact that it is a menswear collection, but the magazine GRAZIA primarily supports innovations in design and quality of the entire performance. We feel a sort of mature work in Tijana`s designs from season to season, a kind of complete understanding of the market and more balanced relation between commercial and author aspect.  We have to admit that we were inspired also by the fact that GRAZIA team has recently dealt with men’s fashion. Namely, a special addition GRAZIA Men was published in the April edition. All the same, regarding the fact that we talk about Tijana`s work and not ours, we here with full confidence give this award and wish she stayed consistent in her way of being creative.

Magazine Stil is proud to congratulate Irena Jovanovic for the award received.

FASHION BEING THE MOST DYNAMIC ON INTERNET

The decision to organize the awarding for the best Fashion Web Project in cooperation with the Belgrade Fashion Week has proved to be very successful. The idea was born as a result of the cooperation between the Web Fest and BFW which lasts for several years; on the other hand fashion is the right concept to be presented on Web.  Regarding that it implies the highest esthetic criteria, the most expensive and best organized events, the best known and most famous persons, excellent artists and top models…, together with top level sports and maybe more than that, fashion is the theme that best suits Internet and all the opportunities it offers nowadays. The fashion fans community that follows the fashion news through Internet numbers a lot of people and is a very loyal one. Fashion in our country and our region has more important place on internet every day and it is maybe the theme that wins the domestic Web in the most dynamic way. There are many individuals, bloggers, with whom this could not be true. They promote fashion as well as the Internet itself among the audience that follow it. They earn most of the merits. We shall mention also the very designers who recognize the moment and try to be present on Web more every day.
The entire above mentioned are the reasons why this award exists starting with this year, and the Belgrade Fashion Week is naturally the context to promote it.

FASHION VIGNETTES CLOSED 29TH BELGRADE FASHION WEEK

Wishing to emphasize the design and fashion as art, at the expense of their simply commercial side which is usually the one put at the foreground in standard fashion presentations like fashion shows, a group of prestige Serbian designers gathered together around the project “Fashion Vignettes” which was realized within a romantic ambience of the King Peter I Villa in Belgrade. Each of the designers had at his disposal one room of the historical building of King Peter I house, the edifice that was made a kind of pavilion for the occasion where they could exhibit their modern artistic forms. Natasa Saric, Ana Ljubinkovic, Bojana Jovanovic, Daniela Glisic, Lada Dragovic and the designers group “Mimimaso”, they all “told” their fashion stories through performances and drama scenic plays. After the presentation had ended, there was a cocktail prepared for all guests in the beautiful garden of this magnificent edifice. The guest among whom there were Slavimir Stojanovic with his wife, Dragana Cosic and many others, they were all talking and exchanging opinions and impressions at the ambience filled with music and flowers of magnolia which made that evening look even more magic. This way, one more successful edition of Amstel Fashion Week has ended.

CHOOMICH OPENS FASHION WEEK

During the Event with the topic „FASHION MORPHOSIS“ (MODAMORFOZA), all the designers and shops within this new Authors Design District were presented in a unique way, through Milos Nadazdin`s photographs.

Maja Atanasijevic presented a kind of performance using a sewing machine as a symbol; she was accompanied by Una Senic who was reading the designers` messages written on the canvas that Maja was “sewing”. The Choomich District has become a trendy fashion destination in the city again thanks to a group of more than forty Belgrade designers, renowned in our country as well as abroad, who were awarded many times for their collections presented at the Belgrade Fashion Week as the most important manifestation in the country. Once having been called “Čumić” today this area shall be recognized as Choomich Design District, a place where for the first time in our country, the shops are owned by different generations of Belgrade designers, starting with those who had started manufacturing and sale a long time ago, like Verica Rakocevic, ending with new generation of young designers lately led by Dejan Despotovic, Tijana Pavlov, Ana Ljubinkovic… On the initiative given by the fashion tandem “Punkuffer” formed by Bojan Milisavljevic and Marko Nenadic, Verice Rakocevic and the youngest groups of the Belgrade fashion designers, in the center of the city, in the Choomich Design District the shops selling authors` fashions shall be opened in November. This concept is unique for that way all the designers shall be gathered together at one place where you shall find both women and men authors designs, variety of different accessories, and all of these already the day after the authors have presented their collections at the Belgrade Fashion Week.  The initiative that has been realized by the Belgrade designers in a short time, is not only important for themselves; this initiative presents more than a personal promotion and presentation because the idea that has changed and improved the urban city core was materialized with symbolic resources, and thus has given it a completely new look and fashion-art concept.

BORIS NIKOLIĆ AWARD

For the fist time, the Boris Nikolić award was given for contemporary fashion expression. . By establishing the Boris Nikolić award, Radio-Television B92 and Belgrade Fashion Week wanted, not only to preserve the memory of Mr. Boris Nikolić, long term B92 stylist and FW participant, but also to create a challenge and set criteria in Serbian fashion, of which Mr. Boris Nikolić was surely one of the most talented representatives of the younger generation. Ms. Aleksandra Berić, PR of TV B92, says that TV B92 is proud to have had Mr. Nikolić as a stylist, and the wish of B92 is for this award to help someone achieve his or her goal, and contribute to the development of Serbian fashion with his or her own fashion expression. B92 Media Company decided to give 2,000 EUR to the awarded designer for the preparation of the next collection, and Belgrade Fashion Week will organize the next fashion show free of charge. This closes the production and promotional circle that will enable the most gifted designers with significant aid in their future professional work.

It is believed that this award will carry the meaning, weight, and seriousness of Boris’ incredibly creative work. GALA OPENING OF THE 24th BECK`S FASHION WEEK

Unfortunately, Boris Nikolić is no longer with us, as he passed away this spring, but he left his models after his departure and thus continued to last through them. He was a recipient of many awards and recognitions, and for years worked as a stylist at the B92 media company.

The wish of the organizers was to mark the 10th anniversary of his work with this fashion show, and to remind the public of the imagination and innovation with which Boris contributed to the Belgrade Fashion Week, developing it  in a direction of establishing truly artistic values.

It was for those reasons that, starting this year, the Belgrade Fashion Week in cooperation with the B92 media company, is handing out an award for «contemporary fashion expression», that will bear Boris' name.

The second part of the evening was marked by an unusual fashion show of Bata Spasojević with which this designer marked the tenth anniversary of his work, as well. NEW ENERGY OF BELGRADE DESIGNERS IN PARIS

Rendez-vous is a fashion design fair in Paris, made as an alternative for young designers who intend to present themselves during the Paris Fashion Week. Today, this manifestation is on a good path to create a reputation as one of the most relevant fashion events in the industry. Apart from the fact that it still represents a group of young fashion designers who are currently trendy, the Rendez-vous manifestation is also a unique opportunity for designers to build up their own brand during the most important season of the fashion calendar (at the time the Paris Fashion Week is taking place).

Nick Jones – the director of the Rendez-vous fair, was in Belgrade during the Fashion Week held in April, when he noticed several interesting designers, and thus the chance to present themselves at this Fair from October 2 to October 5, was given to - Tamara Radivojević, JSP (Jelena and Svetlana Proković), Aleksandar Protić, Slavna Martinović, Evica Milovanov Penezić, and the designer of the Da Lena brand – Sandra Janković.

The stands of our designers were located within the Jeu de Paume Museum. Together with many innovative designers from Brussels, Berlin and other cities, our designers managed to draw attention of the visitors to themselves with their talent and creativity, which was actually the idea of the organizers.

The Retrospective SHOW OF THE CREATIONS OF BORIS NIKOLIC

Boris Nikolić was supposed to celebrate his 10th anniversary this year of his first fashion show at the Belgrade Fashion Week. Until the very last day, he had made great plans for the future, wanting to re-justify, so to speak, the awards he had received for his achievements. Unfortunately, destiny took him away from all of us too soon. In his honor, at the upcoming Fashion Week, the opening on October 22, within the EXPO XXI Center, we shall organize a retrospective fashion show of his creations. We believe that all admirerers of his specific fashion signature and those in love with his specific stripes and the imaginative design will be thrilled. This talented young man with a perspective has left a long-lasting mark on the Belgrade fashion scene, and the Belgrade Fashion Week will not be the same without him. We are looking forward to this fashion show because, in a symbolic way, Boris will once again be among us.

THE STAR OF THE LONDON FASHION SCENE

Ana Šekularac is a special guest of the upcoming Fashion Week. She is one of our most successful young designers living and working abroad, and at the recently held London Fashion Week she again had a very prominent fashion show. In London, Ana presented her spring-summer 2009 collection, which got an excellent review by the fashion critics, and the show itself was attended by many known personalities of the world's show business. Ana Šekularac presented her fashion brand for the first time in 2005 in Belgrade, and she debuted at the London Fashion Week in February last year, when she was voted as an heiress to the famous Armani. The known British paper, Observer, made a comparison of the talented designer to the famous fashion designer, emphasizing that her time has yet to come. The critiques of her fashion show were published in the following magazines: Vogue, Stella, Grazia, Flux, and daily papers Daily Mail, Telegraph. We believe that her fashion show will be a true regale for the domestic audience, since her creations are worn by numerous famous personalities : Victoria Beckham, Roisin Murphy (Moloko), Alice Dellal the famous London jet-setter and many others.

CAMPAIGN IMAGE

This time, as well, a selected team participated in the racionalization process and the conduction of the campaign: the campaign photographer is Vladimir Miladinović; styling is in the hands of our young but already affirmed designer Ana LjubinkoviÄ; the creations used will be by the too soon departed Boris Nikolić, whose ten years' work will be shown at the opening of the Fashion Week; Make-Up is the assignment of Marko Nikolić; hair styling is the responsibility of Bojan Nastasić; the models are Maja Atanasijević and Danijel Stevanović - MS Click; and Filip Stamenković is in charge of the entire design of the campaign.

This edition of the Fashion Week will have the record number of journalist from abroad: Greece, Spain, Norway, France, all ex Yugoslav republics. This talented young man, always decent, moderate and positive, left deep, recognizable stamp on Belgrade Fashion Week which will not be the same without him.

BELGRADE DAYS AND FASHION WEEK

BELGRADE DAYS will be held from April 16th up to April 19th under the motto BELGRADE IS WORLD. An artist came to an interesting and accidental discovery: the map of Belgrade and the map of the world reveal one interesting coincidence when overlapped – the inhabited parts of the world overlap with inhabited parts of Belgrade.
Since the opening of the Beck’s Fashion Week coincides with the timing of this manifestation and since the Belgrade Fashion Week is the member of the world’s fashion family, it is natural that part of the program is going to be realized within Fashion Week.
Namely, the Faculty of Drama Arts overlaps with Hollywood on the map mentioned above. That is why fashion performance by Tijana Pavlov and Dejan Despotovic will take place at the Faculty on April 17th (its anniversary). The Faculty will also host the competition for the BEST HOLLYWOOD DOUBLE.
The jury will select two competitors who look the most like some famous Hollywod actor/actress. The winners will be awarded with journey to Hollywood.

THE CAMPAIGN FOR THE 23TH BECKS'S FASHION WEEK IS READY!
